Who can be added to the list? To appear on this list you need to be a dragon artist, and have a website displaying your dragons. Your website does not have to be exclusively full of your original dragon art, but it should be easy to find your dragon artwork. It is acceptable to have a site with pictures unsuitable for children, but no pornography or hate sites please. Commercial websites selling dragon art can be included, as long as the majority of the dragon art being sold is produced by the site owner, or the site is a collaboration between the listed artists and site owner (in other words, the site owner works directly with the artist, not buying prints from a printers or the like). If you want to add your site to the list, send the information described below to weyr@polenth.com. If you haven't got the time to work out all the information, or simply don't know where to start, it is fine just to send your link. Keep in mind if you do just send a link, all the required information and pictures will be selected for you. What needs to be sent? Do not send any of this as a zip file, or other file compressing format. Attach all pictures just as they are (jpg or gif). The information on the list is...

Frequently Asked Questions 1. Can galleries provided by sites such as elfwood be included in the list? Yes. As long as the art is suitable (mostly dragons, not a hate site, etc.) it does not matter who is hosting your page.
Yes, you can send details for more than one site. In most cases, these will be combined into a single entry (so if Bob had a second site, it would be listed in the same box as 'Bob's Dragon Art Page'.) You might want to put a sentence in the 'Notes About Artwork' section saying how each site is different (for example, site A might have all the pictures you've done, and site B may only have the best pictures).
No, you don't. Links to either the artist list or the main website are appreciated, but you do not have to provide a link.
They do not have to be. Examples of other ways to organise might be:
Easy to find does not mean if you know where they are, or remember to call dragons 'spgofi' in the search engine, they're easy to find. A stranger to the site should be able to work out where they are without needing to solve logic problems to get there.
It is generally prefered if both images show the same picture. However, there are times that it might not work very well for an artist. For example, your picture looks like a bunch of random squiggles shrunk to 100x100, or is an animation that looks bad as a still frame. So long as you provide the different thumbnail image, it should not be a problem.
Yes. These pages are all static content, meaning that the search engines have no problems with indexing them. All of the links are followable by Google (nothing is set to 'nofollow') so will be taken into account by Google's algorithms. The main thing is to make sure you keep your link up to date, by letting the webmaster know if your site moves. |
