Many headed dragons appear in 'Revelation' in the Bible (specifically chapter 12, verses 3 and 4). The dragon of 'Revelation' is a red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, representing the Devil. Each head is wearing a crown. The image of many-headed dragons wearing crowns does appear in later artwork, inspired by the Biblical story.
