This is the symbol of Cipactli or Cipactli-Caiman. This version is from the book
'Researches Concerning the Institutions and Monuments of the Ancient
Inhabitants of America' by Alexander von Humboldt and translated by Helen Maria
Williams (Volume II, 1814). It is a redrawing of the symbol in the
Codex Borgio. Cipactli appears in the first part of the codex (the tonalamatl)
as one of the signs of the days.
