Description:
Chiao are scaled dragons without horns. Other English spellings include Jiao, Kiao or K'i.

Chinese sources vary in their descriptions of Chiao. The Yuen Keen Lei Han suggest that Chiao are a bit like constrictor snakes, able to wrap themselves around things and crush them. They also have slender snake-like necks and heads. Their bones are green, their eyebrows joined and they have white decorations on their necks.

Chiao may start life as fish and turn into Chiao at a great age. They are described as having open egg mounds and being rather intolerant of other Chiao.
