Location:
Asia

Description:
Muchilinda is the Naga King that shelted Buddha. The story goes that Buddha was meditating by a lake when a storm started. Muchilinda lived in the lake and saw Buddha was not reacting to the storm. He wrapped himself around Buddha, extending his seven cobra-hoods above his head. In this way the Naga King protected Buddha from the storm.

When the storm was over, Buddha came out of his meditation. Muchilinda unwrapped himself, turned into the form of a human man, and bowed to Buddha. He then returned to his lake home.
