Description:
The Mongolians believe in water spirits, the nagas, that live in natural water.
The naga protects the environment and can control the weather. It is important to be
respectful to the nagas and not pollute or damage the environment. This includes
getting blood in the water. A modern account by Kim Sun Jeong describes how this
belief still survives in Mongolia, and the bad weather on her trip was attributed
to someone in the group putting raw meat in the water.
