Description:
Lindworms are legless serpent-dragons. They often have
wings and are sometimes shown wearing crowns. They eat
cattle and bodies and invade churchyards. Lindworms symbolise war and
pestilence. They can also be called lindorm snake, lindwurm and lindorm.
The old description of a lindworm were more variable, allowing for
different numbers of legs. The lindworms of Germanic heraldry and folklore
often have legs.
