Description:
Serpents could appear in visions as part of Maya rituals. One example
of this is the story of Lady Wak Tuun. She took part in a blood-letting
ritual. Blood-letting was a popular part of rituals among the Mayans. The
ritual succeeded and the vision serpent sprang up out of the bowl in front
of her. This was recorded on a stone tablet commissioned by her husband,
Bird Jaguar IV.
