This page is a resource about the jaguarundi, a species of cat from the Americas. The word 'jaguarundi' comes from the Guarani Indian term, 'yaguarundis'. Other names for the jaguarundi include, otter cat, weasel cat, jaguarondi, eyra, and yaguarundi. Eyra was originally only for the red variety of jaguarundi, as this was believed to be seperate species of cat. However, after it was found that both forms of cat could appear in the same litters, it was realised that they were the same species.
